I don’t usually give reviews, but had decided to review these dumbbells even before I was asked. The customer service was so excellent, I felt it was the least I could do to give something back.
I’m in the process of redoing my home gym and felt it was time for a new set of adjustable dumbbells. I’m a retired firefighter, so I’ve been around my fair share of dumbbells most of my career. Take that anyway you like.
My old Bowflex 55lb dumbbells are probably 10 odd years old and have been fine for what I do. The tab for the 15lb setting on one broke, and since the kids aren’t fessing up, I’m not sure how it happened. The things that irked me about the Bowflex was that the lifting handle remains the same length no mater what weight is used. This can be cumbersome for some exercises. Not a problem with the BEFIT NOW 80 LB , the length of the weight selected is commensurate to the amount of weight used.
Having to rotate two dials on the Bowflex and remember that one has to rotate opposite to the other, was slow and annoying. Not so with the < BEFIT NOW 80 LB. Turn the lifting handle one way or the other and Bob’s your uncle.
Another frequent annoyance with the Bowflex is that if the dial wasn’t exactly so, the whole rack would lift out and you would have to fiddle with the dial to get the right weight.
So far this haven’t been a problem with the < BEFIT NOW 80 LB.
I did want the 90 lb < BEFIT NOW DUMBBELL but it did not have a stand attachment at the time. So I purchased the 80 lb set which all in all should be fine for me.
I’m a little disappointed that the keyways that connects the plates are plastic, but they align well and seem sturdy enough. I will not be dropping these and I probably wouldn’t recommend them for a public gym. But I think they will serve me well.
There is a mild rattle to the plates when in use, but not too bad.
One quirky thing is the oil used on the stainless during shipping gave me a crazy itching rash.
Even after wiping with a rag it occurred again couple weeks later. I would suggest washing with a degreaser and where gloves if concerned.
All in all, I think this is a great product if treated respectfully.

build is solid, the steel is high quality and looks very nice. grips are comfy, and being able to adjust the weights is really convenient. it's compact and easy to store. been a great addition to my home gym!
